I am currently lusting over Mac new make up collaboration with Iris Apfel, the colours are so rich and quirky and the photography and styling is amazing! Apfel is a fashion icon from New York who is famous her eccentric style and amazing use of colour. She is credited with being the first woman to wear jeans as a fashion item when the only people wearing them where lumberjacks and field hands. She had a pair of boy sized jeans from her local Army and Navy store and rocked them with a turban and some gold hoop earrings!  I love how she refuses to conform to the stereotype of what people believe old ladies should wear and at 88 years old is still dressing in the bright colours and textures that she has always loved.

• Never take yourself or and outfit too seriously
• Visit the animal kingdom
• Consider the clergy
• Travel widely
• Go high and low
• Don’t fret about your age
• Don’t be afraid to stop traffic

Fashion should be fun! Life is too short to worry about what other people think of your clothes. What I love about Apfel is that she wears exactly what she feels like without any consideration to what others think of her and as a result of this always looks fabulous! We could all do with taking a leaf out of her book.
